We follow the national curriculum for England (click on the above link for a detailed breakdown). For more information about the mathematics and English curriculum that stems from this document, please click on the appropriate links for those subjects on the Core Curriculum Page.
For all foundation subjects, the school uses Cornerstones, an exciting and vibrant scheme of work which immerses children in a particular context before challenging them to apply their knowledge in a range of subjects. As an example, Year 6 began the year by learning about ‘Frozen Kingdoms.’ Through this context, they created maps of the polar regions (geography), fact files on famous explorers (history), food web of arctic wildlife (science) as well as a range of other cross-curricula learning opportunities.
For more specfic information about our Cornerstones, Imaginative Learning Projects, visit the ILP page and be sure to follow us on twitter where we share many examples of the children’s brilliant and creative class and home work.
